Vic's Story
Well like a few I dropped out of school. Did about three quarters of my sophmore year.
I think that would have been 1961/62.
Went back the next year to take Sophmore year again but dropped out after about a month.
Joined the military, US ARMY in 1965 on the buddy plan with my brother Allen.
Got my GED while in the military then 4 years of college afterwards.
In the military I spent time in Germany 1965 & 66 and Vietnam in 6-68 to 1-70.
Im on my 4th marriage, the one that should have been my first.
I worked most of my life as an auto mechanic, quit when it became the computer age and then I started driving, traveling the USA and Canada delivering 5th Wheel Trailers, Ryder & Budget Trucks for a couple years.
Came back to Portland and drove local up and down I-5 from Portland to Roseburg. Finished it off running a warehouse in Portland for 6 years. Retired at 62 in 2008 to care for a very sick wife.

n a computer all day, that keeps me off the streets and out of jail so its a good thing.
My life has been good, some complaints like I was never rich or never hit the lottery.
Its been a fun life, ups and downs, frowns and smiles.
In thinking of my years at Douglas I cant think of any one or two people I miss. Would like visiting with everyone but like I say, I wasnt known at Douglas because of dropping out.
Now its 2012, fought serious illnesses and surgeries of my wife. Spent most of the last 3 to 4 years taking care of her. Now that we have her back on her feet and somewhat strong.
Its her turn to take care of me.
I had Lung surgery in 1980 from something I caught in Vietnam.
So I hit 66 last June and my lungs or breathing decided they were tired. Doctors dont quite know whats going on, just doing testing now and we will know soon im sure.
Im at a point of trying to take it easy until they find out the problem.
