Vic's Story
Life
I attended Citrus and Santa Ana Colleges and USC but I never graduated because I kept returning to active duty to serve with the regular forces. I served ten years in the US Army and the California Army National Guard where I was a combat infantryman and special operations soldier.
After the army I married and joined the Azusa Fire Department. I left AFD in 1968 to work as a Deputy Sheriff for Orange County, CA. I then became a part-time deputy when I went to work full-time for Huntington Beach Fire Department. I retired from Public Safety as a Deputy Fire Marshal after 32 years of service. Most of my public safety career was aimed at major disasters and command operations including the Watts Riots in 1965, the Rodney King Riots and the Mexico City Earthquake.
I lived in Huntington Beach for 32 years and moved to San Diego when I retired. Although I am not home often and usually not for long, I used to call San Diego. CA my home. I now live in El Dorado County , CA. and wander around with the bears, deer, wild turkeys and other animals.
I divorced in 1984. I have two children, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter and one great grandson.
Since my retirement from pubic service I have lived in Costa Rica, and I lived and worked in Spain, and Greece. I worked for several months in Thailand where I helped with the Tsunami Recovery Operat...Expand for more
