Vicki's Story
I am now teaching elementary school, after baking in the railroad camps for 5 years. I also worked for 2 years on drilling rigs, seismic camps, power line and construction camps. I have a daily reminder of working on the railroad since I live across the street from the train tracks, where the commuter trains, and all kinds of freight trains go by each morning and evening. I am no longer married -- I guess the German culture and I just weren't a good fit! Bonuses from that time were learning to speak German, travelling in Europe and enjoying a gypsy lifestyle for 7 years.
In 1990, I went back to university to complete the teaching program at SFU. I continued to upgrade for several years and finished in 1997. Started teaching full time in 1994, and I am currently teaching at an inner city school. This is my 23rd year there. I am currently teaching Grade 1/2 but I have also taught Kindergarten, K/1, Grade 1, Gr.1/2 and Gr. 2/3 and Grade 3.
I've finished up with tutoring and now, for fun, I read Tarot cards and tea leaves. Psychic development has always been an interest of mine. Psychometry, pendulums and astrology are on the top of my list! Still love to travel, mostly interesting road trips. But I also love being at home, inviting friends over for BBQs and taking it easy.
I completed my sixth half marathon in May 2010. After being sidelined for 7 months with injuries I was happy to complete close to my time from last year. I enjoy running and fitness. Because of my work with children, I was chosen as an Olympic Torchbearer on Feb. 11th, the day before the Olympics started!!! Many memories! And over 1000 people got their pics taken holding the torch -- those people had great stories to share as well.
I am getting back to hobbies that I did in Shilo years ago, including target practice. I have 1 rifle, and 2 handguns. My favorite is my Smith & Wesson .686 that shoots both .38s and .357s. Would like to get into competitive shooting. Tried trap shooting for the first time. I would never shoot an animal, only paper or clay pigeons!

n pole dancing for 5 years and bellydancing for 12 years. Both are a great workout and lots of fun.
A few years ago, I bought a new piano, to get back to playing music that I really loved.(I was one year short of teaching piano...) It's been a long time! I like connecting with friends, enjoying a mocha, yoga, pilates, watching movies, playing pool and basically enjoying life! I have a wonderful group of friends to hang out with, and I consider myself fortunate to have them in my life!
There is nothing better than driving down the highway, listening to great music, on a sunny day, looking up at the mountains, or enjoying the view of the ocean and a beautiful sunset. The railroad work brought me to BC and I am glad that I am here! My parents and aunt followed me out west and they live in Vernon and Peachland. I love living in the Vancouver area and plan to stay!!
For 5 years I have taught Math Skill Building or Reading & Writing at summer school in July. I didn't work this summer and had an adventurous trip to China! I hope to have more summers off in the future. Will see where life takes me from there.
I have a website for tarot reading (CoquitlamTarot.com) and I have been facilitating Reconnective Healing for 4 years. . I completed my Level 1/2 in Newport Beach, California and lLevel 3 and Reconnective Animals in Phoenix . Eric Pearl is an interesting guy! This is my latest passion, for self healing and facilitating healing for others. I also am a Reiki level 2 practitioner. I have enjoyed being a tarot reader for several years. I recently learned Scientific Hand Analysis and I am working to complete my practicum's requirements of reading 100 pairs of hands. It's not future predictive. However it shows you your areas of greatest resistance, the area that brings you the most satisfaction and the common themes in your life. Truly remarkable. It's a great conversation starter with people where ever I go. Life is great! When I retire in 4 years I have a great set of skills to take me places and a part time career in the metaphysical world!
