Vicki's Story
Life
My life mantras:
Learn from your mistakes - don't pretend they never happened.
If you're not proud of what you're doing, then you're probably doing it wrong.
Work hard. Play hard. Rest when you're dead!
School
This thing suggested I list who my "biggest crush" was. Ummm... I think the question should be, "Who WASN'T my crush?" There were just so many cute, athletic boys in Oakville that I just couldn't narrow it down. And I didn't even care how old they were. My biggest crushes were WAY older than me. Let's see, how far back shall we go? When I was 4, and not even in school yet, I used to stand out on the porch every day and wait for Terry Kohr to drive by in his orange car with the black stripes. He'd honk and wave at me, making my day, every day. I think when I was like 5 or 7, I totally loved Jim Soha... and then there was Chris Hollman, who I loved to watch play basketball and stalked outside the lunchroom door every day when I was what, 10 or so? My first "real crush" was my classmate Gary Waltenburg (who I miss so mu...Expand for more
ch). But the most consistent "crush" throughout the years had to be my childhood friend, Jimmy Austin (1985). I'm happy to report that we're good friends to this day.
The teachers that inspired me most were Mrs. Halpern (6th Grade), Mr. Lefstad (Science), Mrs. Scarth (English) and Mr. Chromy (Music).
If I could do it all over again, I probably would, but I'd be better at it next time!
College
I graduated in 1991 with a B.A. in Communication from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University in Pullman. I pretty much bleed Crimson & Gray. The worst thing I ever got from WSU was mono and the best thing was the student body president, who I later married.
The rest of the stories will be shared when I'm feeling brave.
Workplace
I've had some amazing jobs and have worked in the public, private, non-profit and government sectors. Probably the coolest jobs I ever had were the ones where I served as a publicist, writer or media event assistant to celebrities. Talk about a wild and demanding lifestyle!
