Vicki's Story

Hi, I attended Foster Heights Elementary school in Bardstown. Next, I attended Boston Elementary in Boston, KY. Then, I attended My Old KY Home school, (9th. grade) in Bardstown, Ky. Then went on to Nelson County High where I graduated with the class of 1973. I remember a lot of people by attending the 4 schools. During my time at Nelson High, all I could think about was graduating. I had average grades and I wanted to join the Armed Services, but upon completion of the required entrance test; my target was a mechanic? My mother did not think it was a good idea to join, anyway. I did not know what I wanted to do except I was not ready for college at that point in my life therefore graduating from UNF in 1992. I wanted to get out of High school and I was ready to explore different options. The day after graduation in 1973, I moved to Indiana and lived with my step-brother for a few months but it was too cold because he lived terribly close to Michigan. So, I moved to Elizabethtown, KY with my brother and his family until I met my first husband there and was married thus having my oldest son, Damon. Damon also lives in Cape Coral, Florida with his family. The first marriage did not work out. I think I married too young but was married about 5 years. Next, in 1980; I met my second husband and gave birth to my youngest son Shane. He currently lives lives in Elizabethtown, KY. Unfortunately, that marriage did not work out (irreconcilable differences.) However, it did endure about 5 years. Next, I married again and this was a disaster! The marriage lasted 9 whole months, no children. Yet, I still had not given up on the institution of marriage. I married again to an Officer in the Army at Ft. Knox, KY and that was as close to the Army that I ever got:) He retired 4 months later and the next day, he went to work for the government as an Information Computer Manager. So, I left KY behind. My youngest son whom we had joint custody decided to stay in KY with his father. Yet, visiting was not a problem for either of us due to air travel. My fourth husband and I moved from KY to the Ft. Worth Dallas Texas area in 1987. Then, we moved to Honolulu, Jacksonville, FL, Washington DC, St. Petersburg FL, Washington again, and finally Walnut Creek, CA which is 45 minutes from San Francisco. This marriage lasted almost 10 years probably because we moved and traveled all the time. We had no children. He became abusive and I divorced him in California. I set up my next residence in VA Beach, VA and there is where I met my last and final husband, Bill. We have been married 15 years and lived together almost 4 years. We have no children together but he has a daughter in California and a son in VA Beach. He too, worked for the government as a Cyber Security Manager and we moved quite a lot. We moved from VA Beach to Washington DC (my third tour). Bill, unfortunately was in the Pentagon when it was hit by terrorists. Luckily he was not hurt but evacuation took forever from the building and communication was minimal at best. The Pentagon being a massive fortress; Bill said that while in a meeting at the Pentagon, one of the Generals heard the explosion and wondered if the water heater blew up next door. But, a second later, everyone was well aware of the attack. Simultaneously, the Sniper was on the loose shooting at everyone and I was afraid to fill up my car at a gas station. He asked for a transfer and I left my job to move to Knoxville, TN. It was ok but we moved to Paducah, KY after about 6 years. Bill most always works at a location near a Nuclear Site and that is always an interesting situation. We were in Paducah one year and I had to get out. So, we moved to Cape Coral, FL where we intended to retire. He works from home and is flying back and forth to Paducah and Knoxville when it is necessary. I am retired and he can retire in about 3 years. We absolutely love it here. He golfs all the time while my golfing is restricted to a Mini Golf Stars Game and tournaments on line:) We travel a lot too and have been to several states, cities, down thru the years. I have only been to Mexico and turned down living in Germany and Iceland! I plan some trips out of country though. I did not mind moving so much at all. New friends, new environment, new job until I retired. My career was in Social Work so I had no problems finding new and interesting challenges in that field, believe me:) So many stories to tell about Social Services episodes. During all of the moves and places that I had visited one of my hobbies began in Ghost Investigations as it is usually known by the public. I have visited a long list of haunted places thru out the US. Also, had an opportunity to investigate 2 institutions or Asylums. There were a lot of people requesting my services until I moved to FL where I have not had time for that hobby, yet. I have loads of research though. I wanted to prove there was life after death and other inhuman ...Expand for more
forms and I did so. Certainly, I was not ready for what I would find early on but became an expert at it. My husband accompanied me when he was available and I had an associate. I used all the latest technology and thought about writing a book but it is old news at best, now. Some of my adventures were wild, though and I was addicted. You probably would not believe who has the same hobby in the US. My other hobby came about for charity and I impersonate Michael Jackson. Yes, that right, I said "Mike." I have pics that I can post later here or on a Facebook. Also, I am a collector of MJ items and have a lot of interesting items. I have a room dedicated to the "King of Pop." Mike had been around as long as I have meaning about the same age. I had a Billie Jean costume made for me with the Crystal Jacket, pants, and everything is per correct specs. I have the famous black fedora hat, glove, arm bands, sun glasses, V-neck shirt, right down to the socks and his favorite dancing shoes. Of course, I have the wig from the " Bad" era. I like the long curls, best. This impersonation came in handy to teach challenged children when I worked for State in Social Work. Believe me, they will pay attention to Michael Jackson! And, of course everyone loves the wacky entertainment to include my husband who has a pic on his IPhone Screen:) I don't know how many women do his impersonation but I do fool people! I want to visit Neverland Ranch in California, one day. I know a lot of people believe in the abuse scandals but I do not. I have done much research on MJ and I have a great deal of knowledge about his history. Of course, hobbies varied from state to state as well as hair color. For example, horses in Texas and California. Blond in FL on 2 moves and red in California. I enjoy and enjoyed meeting new cultures and trying new things wherever I move or visit. I have met some very, very interesting folks and I loved it. Lots of stories there and my husband can vouch for that. He is outgoing and friendly but a bit more of a subtle style. He is initialing from Radcliff, KY where his father retired as a Colonel in the US Army. Bill was accustomed to moving long before I was in the picture. For instance, he was born in Germany. All of my relatives still live in KY primarily around the Elizabethtown area. His relatives live in several states, but he has some relatives in Radcliff, KY. We come back to KY pretty often and we always go to Bardstown and we love dining at Kurtz Restaurant. We like Talbott Tavern too. We have stayed at several of the Bed & Breakfast spots in Bardstown. Of course, all the ghost spots:) Now, I think back noting that nothing is a coincidence and think I did live my dream. I had some obstacles, but I finished college with a BA in Sociology and worked in a fulfilling career. Traveled and had opportunities to explore numerous exciting places and meet amazing people. I never missed KY. My youngest son loves KY and my oldest son loves FL. Two very different environments and two very different sons. Neither have done all the things that I should not have done in early years and that is good. I don't know how they both turned out so exceptional. They both have beautiful families and thriving careers. I have two grandsons who live in FL and one granddaughter who lives in KY. The ages vary from the oldest grandson (21) other grandson (17) and my granddaughter is (6). The youngest grandchildren are a handful! High school now is not the same as I know you all are very aware especially in FL. My granddaughter has a Princess and tom boy flip side:) She is indeed an extraordinary young lady. I admire her spunk but she lives with her patient parents:) Now days, it is laid back here in Cape Coral, but loads of activities of all types and people from all over the world live in FL. I stay pretty busy and the weather is great. This is my (third tour) in FL so I had already acclimated to the Weather. I like the ocean environment very much and lifestyle. Well, I am certainly different than I was in High school. No longer shy but outgoing. No longer skinny but I still wear a size 8-10. I do not have a tan because I really like to take care of my skin. I will be 60 in November and most say that I do not look it unless they are just being polite:) I like my hair short and stylish now with a natural color ( yes, got some gray but not showing it.) My husband has silver hair and has had for several years and I tell him he looks distinguished. He has a great sense of humor and that is what people love about him. We make a good pair but I think I am the wittier one, of course! I hope everyone is doing very well and if you want to get in touch just email me. I am building another Facebook and I will get around to uploading some pics on the Classmates site. I have lots of humorous stories about my lifetime adventures. Thanks for Listening.
