Vickie's Story

Well, I don't know where to start but here I go. Life has it up and downs and sometimes we don't know what road to take. When we take a road we think it is the wrong road but we can't go back. I wasn't able to go to college straight out of high school. Instead I took care of my grandmother. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1993. We started to notice the changes around that time. I became a nurse aide and basically took care of grandma at home until she passed away in 2000. I started a non profit animal sanctuary in 2003. . We have taken in over 1100 dogs and placed over 1000 animals in new homes. Times can get crazy but I wouldn't change what I do. g. I believe I do what I do cause God wants me to. In the spring of 2007 I was diagnosed with cancer and I was scared I was going to die but I said a few prayers. I am still here and cancer free. I still rescue and am now starting to work on getting a spay/neuter program where I live. In the summer of 2008 I met my husband. I loved him from the first time I saw him. He was an older man but that didn't mean anything to me. In Febuary 2009 we got married and found out we were expecting in June 2009. I gave birth to our son in March 2010. My husband was not a well person when we got married but I still loved him very much. In May 2010 I became a widow. My husband got to see our son born and that ment more to him than anything. This is my life.
