Vickie's Story
Life
My Spouse
While at college, my sister called and wanted me to meet her boss, so I came home to Stuttgart and met him-Don's from Magnolia.
My Pets
Dog, Cocker Spaniel named Buttons
Parakeets, 1
MANY tropical fish, Don's a hobbiest
My Kids
My son, Dillon, is 16 and at the top of his class.
My daughter, Kayla, 12, is beautiful, smart, and very sassy.
School
I take the 5th on the crush question. The teachers that inspired me most in high school would have been Mrs. Chism and Mrs. Beasley. I would NOT have the high school experience again, but college, I would.
I have some fun memories from Mr. Arnold's class and Ricelanders. I also enjoyed art classes.
Mr. Holloway in Jr. High was my least favorite (although I'm sure he was a nice person). He'd tell you 10 different ways to work a problem, then say, "Don't do it THAT way, do it MY way." He'd also walk around and if you got stuck on a problem and couldn't finish, he'd make you go the board and stand there and work it or until the bell rang. I hate math to this day, although I can't tell my students that.
College
This will be hard to believe, but my first summer away from home, I stayed on Central Baptist C...Expand for more
ollege's campus and worked for maintainance-I washed windows on the third floor ledges to pay for room and board. The "guys" that stayed that summer wanted to watch movies but didn't want to move the tv and vcr to the foyer, so they put a chair outside their window in the bushes and snuck me into the room (girls weren't allowed in the guys dorm). The supervisor knocked on the door and said, "I heow and geowl in theow!" The guys swore up and down it was the tv as they hid me in the closet. I came clean, though, and he didn't tell on me as I promised it would NEVER happen again. I think that's the wildest thing I've ever done.
I've gotten my associates, bachelors, and masters.
Workplace
In high school, I worked co-op, First Baptist Daycare and then on to WalMart until close. In college I taught Physical Science and Biology labs and was an algebra tutor for work study. When we moved to Clarendon in 1996, I stayed home with my kids until the youngest started preschool, then I substitute taught, which led to Elementary Secretary, which led to classroom teacher (3rd/4th Literacy) as I went to college nights after work! I LOVE my job, but not everything that comes with it
