Life After High School I went to Applied Computer Training in South Bend, IN for a course in Computer Programming. I found it fasinating but no corporations were hiring Jr. Programmers at that time. I went on to Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles, MI and worked in the Reorder Dept, picking patterns according to stores orders. While at Simplicity, I worked with a lady whose cousin, Mike Kitchell, was in the Air Force at Beale Air Base, Marysville, California. The SR71 spy plane (the black bird) was his assignment. Then he went to Illinois for special training and came home on the weekends. That is how I met my husband. We hit it off immediately and 6 months later we were married on July 29th, 1972. We moved to California for awhile; then Mike was assigned to the upper pennisula of Michigan where our son, Jason, was born in October 1973 at K.I. Sawyer AFB. Mike got out of the Air Force in 1974. We moved back to Buchanan and settled down there. My husband has held a variety of job positions. He graduated from Lake Michigan College as a radiologic technologist in 1986. Mike worked at a hospital in South Bend, IN. He also graduated from Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences in 2003 as a medical massage therapist. He now is in sales at a Mishawaka store. Throughout my life, I've worked as a housekeeper, factory worker, store sales clerk, and a label printer for a small food company. Aft...Expand for more
