Victoria's Story
Life
After graduating in 1990, I moved to Burlington Vermont for 4 years and attended college part-time. It was there that I met my husband who was studying abroad from Holland at UVM. I moved to South Carolina with my future husband so he could pursue his master's degree and I could continue with my studies. While we enjoyed the south and the fun that came with it, we decided to move back to New England after he graduated. In the fall of 1999, we moved to Rhode Island where Jacob took a job at CVS headquarters and I continued my education at Rhode Island College. Jacob and I got married in Lake Placid New York in September 2000. Finally, in 2003, I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. Although we loved Rhode Island and made many friends there, I decided my career would be most enhanced by working in Boston. My husband transitioned to a new job in Marlborough Massachusetts, and I became employed by Massachusetts General Hospital in the Burn...Expand for more
and Plastic Surgery unit. This was a very intense job and I found the challenges very insightful and educational, but also extremely stressful. After 2 years on that unit, I decided to transition to the Pediatric population in the same hospital. I have been there for 3 years, and absolutely love all that comes with this type of nursing. In 2005, Jacob and I had our first child Aryen. Parenting has become the best adventure of my life! My son is now 18 months and I have learned so much from him and have become involved in many activities that I never new existed prior to becoming a mom. I now work part-time but stay tremendously busy with all that my son is involved with. My husband and I love Massachusetts and the suburb that we live in. We have made many friends here and feel that this will always be our home. We are raising our son bilingually to speak Dutch as that is my husbands first language and Aryen has visited Holland already at his young age.
