VICTORIA's Story
Pretty boring actually, but in the immortal words of Joe Walsh, "life's been good to me so far". After college, no real career plans, so I took a job as a cashier managers aid / bartender trainee at Hamburger Hamlet, an LA based chain with horrible , exploitative owners. It took me 6 months to realize that I didn't want to devote my work life to a place where , if the daily tomatoes delivery was defective, it was a catastrophic event where heads rolled. In my family, when in doubt, just get another degree. So I became a law librarian, 43 years total, in a variety of settings, public, private firm and university law schools. It turned out to be a line of work I really enjoyed as I learned something new almost every day, and had lots of opportunity to travel. Been in Phoenix since 1988. to think I almost didn't even go), and spending time with my Mom, while working on digging out of the childhood home, in Riverside. If you've seen the New Yorker cartoon, where the dad has the son in front of the jam-packed garage saying "Son, one day all this will be yours", that's pretty much my reality, one carload at a time. Through the decades I've found meaningful love, serially, had my heart broken once, but content with myself now, whatever happens. My interests are reading, travel, socializing with friends, golf (well I call it golf), seeking the perfect Hemingway daiquiri , going to concerts (although these days they are getting pretty pricey, so frequenting the let's prop up Willie Nelson for another go, Johnny Mathis , yes he's still alive and performing, tribute bands and the ones featuring the stray Temptation or Beach Boy circuit).
Now, i'm contemplating what to do with the rest of my life, TBD. I am grateful for all the blessings of my life and wish my classmates well. I am really enjoying the personal 'stories' so classmates, keep them coming!
