Victoria's Story

There were 2 Vicky Robertsons at Spring Woods. I, unfortunately, was the unpopular one. While I was in school this really bothered me because I wanted to be friends with so many people but I just wasn't excepted in with "The In-Crowd". So I stayed by myself, having ever few friends. When I graduated I went into the Military (Army). That didn't last very long so I move up to Washington D. C. Well, life didn't get much better. After moving back down to Houston and ten years later in 1981 I went back into the Military (Navy). My first and only post was at NATTC (Naval Air Technical Training Center), NAS (Naval Air Sation), in Millington, Tn. (which, by the way, was literally blown off the map by a hurricane!!). I was in for 3 years. I got out of the Military in 1984 and got married on April 13, 1984 to a Naval Chief but was only married for 10 months. He was very abusive. On February 22, 1985 the divorce papers were signed and in 1985/86 there was a short stent of being a professional westler (and, please, don't ask). In the late winter/early Spring of 1986 I moved back down to Houston (again). I started working in the security business. I have been in the business now for 26 years. I am writing a book about my experiences. I have held positions from patrolman to Lt. For the last year and a half I have been working as an independent contractor. I manufacture a product for the Academy stores. From 1969 to 1994, for some reason, I had always attracted the women abusers because I was naive and very trusting and did not stand up for myself, but now I stand very tall at 5' 3" and don't let that happen anymore because I finally realized I didn't deserve to be treated like that! Today I have learned from my mistakes and I am very happy and lot smarter. I don't see kindness as a weakness - it's a gift! For those people who do see it as a weakness, well, you are missing out on some very special people. I never re-married, don't have any children, really never wanted any. I was always taking care of other peoples children. I do have 5 four-legged, furry children: Davida, Goliath, Jazzy, Tazzy and Red. Five distinctly different personalities! They range from 4 years to 16 year...Expand for more
s old. All are rescued cats. I love animals but I never planned on having 5!! When, unfortunately, I start losing them I will only keep two at a time (not five!). I am hoping by the end of the summer my book will be ready to send out to prospective publishers. I really want the book to be illustrated but I am having a hard time finding someone who will spend the time and effort to do it. I put out a flyer at the University of Houston Art Department in South Houston but the students just didn't realize how much time and effort was involved so all three cancelled on me. Oh, well. I hope to see many fellow classmates at the reunion. I am very sad for the ones who won't be with us. Everyone, please be safe and I will see you on June 11, 2011, Saturday!! Victoria (Vicky) Robertson If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have drive, ambition, and professionalism to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My brothers. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Mary Quartaro, because she believed in me!. crochet, exercise, run, walk. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have drive, ambition, and professionalism to be able to deal with day-to-day situations. My brothers The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Mary Quartaro, because she believed in me!. If I won $1 million, I'd give part of it to my family, then put the rest in savings, a new car and friends. My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong. My best friend would tell you I'm very caring, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as obsessive. I wear what I want. I don't follow trends. I share my home with another person, 2 dogs and 5 cats, which I find time consuming but wonderful. In 10 years, I hope to be an accomplished author . I'm going to get there by a lot of hard work. Mary Quartaro was so much fun to be around. She was not afraid to be herself. We went every where together, did every thing together! We thought a lot alike, more like sisters. I have missed her and always will! I am tagged as being on page 218 but I'm not. I did not have picture taken that year.
