Vidal's Story

Life (vidal at vidalcruz dot com) email me or look me up on Facebook - I Met my wife Lana (Dovin) Cruz, from Maple Heights, in 1996, after returning from living in Germany for four and a half years. We got married in Aug of 1997. We have 2 Children, our son Galyk, born Nov 1997, and our daughter Keahlie, born Jan 2003. We bought our first home in Akron in 1997. We use this as rental/investment property. We moved to Sturgis Michigan in 2000 for career advancement opportunities and subsequently to Cincinnati in 2003. In 2005 I was given a great career great career opportunity with a terrific Automotive Glass Company, AGC Automotive. The office is in Columbus, Ohio but there is travel to Europe, South East Asia, Los Angeles, Kentucky, and Ohio. In 2007 we moved from our home in Fairfield Township North of Cincinnati and now live just South of Columbus in the small town of Commercial Point. In 2010 I was elected to the Village Council. On a personal note I join the Masonic Lodge in 1994 and was made a 32 Degree Mason in 2001 in the Scotish Rite and in 2002 I was Knighted in York Rite and later that year became a nobel with the Shriners. School Here I would just like to thanks Mr. Hlavsa who gave me a huge break my Freshman year. And Mrs. Benschoff and Mr. Khoury who managed to keep me out of trouble my remaining three years. Without these individuals I would not be where I am today. College I began my degree work while in the military in Europe. After my discharge from the Army I used my GI Bill to attend Ashland University where I majored in Education. After taking a course "Economics of Education" I realized that I could earn more in one year in business than I would in 3 years as a teacher. I immediately changed my major to Business Administration and the following semester transferred to the University of Akron. At Akron University I was majoring in Business Administration, with emphasis in Operations and Finance. Due to family and carreer opportunities I left Akron University to work full-time and finished my Degree in 2000 through on-line coursework. Workplace I began my career as an Administrative Specialist and Personnel Specialist in the Army. After the Army I worked at my parents car dealership in Willard, Ohio as the Sales Manager. In 1997...Expand for more
I was offered a career opportunity with a small plastic injection and blow molding company, Akon Plastics, in Twinsburg, Ohio. I served on the Board of Directors and as the Director of Administration. While the opportunity was grand and my collegues and owner were amoung the best, in 2000 I recieved an offer to be the Materials Manager at one of the leading interiors trim suppliers to the automotive industry. Summit Polymers, moved my family and I to Sturgis Michigan, where I managed the launch of several new vehicles. In 2003 I tranferred to Cincinnati, Ohio and began an opportunity as the Materials Manager, with a concrete products supplier, Reading Rock. While the concrete industry is very profitable and unique I missed the challenge of the automotive industry. I accepted a position in 2005 to be the Supply Chain Manager for Asahi Glass Corporation-Automotive America's Division. AGC is the number 1 manufacturer of glass in the world. They are the perferred supplier to Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan for automotive glass. Military I spent my boot camp during the hotest time of the year at Fort Leonardwood Missouri also known as Fort Lost in the Woods Misery. After completing boot camp I got transferred to the posh Fort Jackson South Carolina for my schooling. This was like going from the No-Tell Motel to the Pent House at the Taj-Mahal. I did not want to leave Fort Jackson because life was so easy. Army Friends often compare Fort Jackson to being in the Air Force. (LOL). After Fort Jackson I returned home for a few months and left for Stuttgart Germany. In Stuttgart I was stationed at Patch Barracks and work in the European Command Support Group. This was a four year Garrison post I worked as the Wrestling Coach for Patch American High School, where we won our Division and placed 3rd in what would be similar to State Finals. (We should have taken first but due to a crooked referee we were robbed of points. However on a personal note life was great in the Army and in Europe. I even got to spend some time with Brad Smith (Black River Class of 90) Who was stationed in Germany at a more traditional Army base. He actually had to goto the Field. I recieved my honorable Discharge in 1994 when I returned home and started my college education.
