Vincent's Story
School
During high school, I had a small circle of very close friends, but consider everyone I had a class with as friendly and enjoyable. I didn't have any personal conflicts with anyone. I enjoyed history/social studies and ROTC classes. I also enjoyed my English classes. I had a part-time job during high school, working as an audio engineer for WCHD-FM (later changed to WJZZ), plus had a number of opportunities to substitute for some of the DJs. It was fun work. I chose to enlist in the U.S. Coast Guard after high school to help pay for my college through the GI Bill. I enjoyed my first enlistment so much, I stayed and made a career out of it, retiring in Nov, 2002 after 30 years of active service.
