Vinner's Story

Hello fellow T-Bred. Thanks for stopping by. I think of many of you often. NCH offered some of the greatest years. Where do I begin to tell my story? So much has happened - good, bad, and ugly. I suppose I will stick with most good. Who the devil wants to hear bad & ugly here? Huh? And I guess the place to start is graduation. Hanky Panky, 96 Tears, Poor Side of Town were some of the hits blaring from our radios, courtesy of WSAI, as we entered the summer before whatever we were going to do after graduation. Ahhh...that first summer after high school. For me, surprising most of my teachers and friends, I decided to go to college. Thankfully, most state colleges then accepted you with the high school diploma, often ACT or SAT scores did not matter as much. State residents were almost assured acceptance. You have surmised by now, if you didn't really know me, I was not that great of a scholastic in high school. I saw her Again, Cherish, Nowhere Man were now pulsing from the radio as I entered Morehead State University. For a Newport boy who never ventured farther away than Bellevue, it was a whole new frightening world. While I knew them, but certainly not part of their circle, I saw Terry Sandfoss and Dave Feldman there - a little touch of home and NCH. It took awhile, and for me it was rough, to get adjusted and feel comfortable. Orientation was nothing like initiation day/week at NCH that when it was over you felt part of the school. But, eventually adjust I did. With some set-backs, twists and turns I did complete my degree at MSU, after completing student teaching at Simon Kenton High. After leaving Morehead, degree in hand, I subsequently went to wo...Expand for more
rk for Kentucky, beginning in the then Dept of Economic Security and eventually with Children Protective Services. I loved my work with both but especially CPS. I worked with them about 5-6 years before going To Rosedale Manor as Director of Human Services. Since this is not a career resume, let's fast forward. I subsequently worked for CPS in Clermont County Ohio and from there started at DJ business and during that time specialized in chemical dependency treatment and from DJing, went into that profession where I remained until the present. I am now semi retired and working several substance abuse treatment groups a week in Campbell, Kenton, Boone County area. Over the years I continued to collect vinyl records. I have a vast collection of 45s and LPs that I am proud of. I simply loved DJing and it hasn't taken much for anyone who wants 50 - 70s tunes to nudge me into doing a gig. I love that music. For 14 years I DJed the Rock n Roast at Batavia YMCA and St. John's Church in Withamsville, Oh. After some U turns, swerves, skids and slides, I eventually married my childhood sweetheart - Barbara Bane. The most heartbreaking day of my life was when Barb passed, which brings me to a new, uncharted phase of life. But so as not to end this on a sad note, I do enjoy live stage plays, concerts, the wonderful career God has blessed me with, travel to historical places, and fun places like Gatlinburg and Branson, and my very good health. I would love to hear from some of you NCH, OLP, and Bellevue High folks. To everyone who has been part of my life over the years, I appreciate all of you and think of you often. I'll add more as this chapter in my life evolves.
