Virgie's Story

It is now August 2, 2011...Does anyone read these stories? Had my 61st bday July 7. Celebrated in a big way on July 23 and went hot air ballooning. You could say it is one more thing checked off the bucket list. Since my last entry, I did the trip with mom...saw St. Johns Newfoundland, St. Pierre Island of Al Capone fame, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, England, Scotland, Ireland. My sister and I took a biggie for my 60th and went to Austria and Germany. My son is going to teach abroad in Taiwan. Guess where I'll probably head next year! (2012). Would someone let me know if they actually took time to read this. :-) Life It is now May 3, 2007. Where has the time gone?! My husband Bill and I have been married for 29 years! ouch! We look a lot different than we did when we got married. I have three grown children: Gina, 28; David, 26; and Ray, turning 22 on May 7. They are all doing well for themselves. My mom was a teacher as many of you remember. :-) I became one as well, teaching for the last 12 years in corrections. Now my son, David, surprised the heck out of me and said he has decided to become one as well to keep this teacher trend going in the family. Bill and I have lived the last 17 years in Salem. It's a nice home but no more pitter patter of little or big feet. My kids can't even get around to givin...Expand for more
g us grandchildren to pitter patter around (sigh). June 29 will be my last day as a working woman. Bill has been retired for 7 years, so his life of leisure is about to come to an end. :-) The month of July will be seeing me taking off with my mom, now 88, to travel via a cruise to the N. Atlantic for 17 days, then 10 days traveling the British Isles. I have never been on a cruise, so I am really looking forward to it. I have never purposefully driven on the wrong side of the road, so hope I do it right or I might miss the reunion. I can't complain...except for the aching back...about where I am in life. I feel very fortunate. I hope if any of you read this, that you have been fortunate as well. If life hasn't been all you had hoped for, I hope the thought of reconnecting with your classmates has its appeal, and you will help Scott and I and others select a date that will make it so that as many of us as possible can get together. There was something very pleasant about our gathering 20 years ago as it seemed we could all mingle without the feeling of clicks. There wasn't anyone I didn't feel comfortable with. Many of us will have gained some pounds, lost some hair, encountered physical problems, but it won't matter. We can still enjoy one anothers company and reminisce of days gone by.
