My Spouse
We both worked in the circulation department at the Univ. of Oregon library, but had been working there for three months before we met. We were a month away from our 44th anniversary when he passed away.
In 1995 we moved from the Seattle area to the Phoenix, Arizona area. What a change! After growing up in the Pacific Northwest, we discovered we really loved the sun and enjoyed 13 years in sunny Arizona before John accepted a wonderful opportunity in Dallas, Texas. We find Dallas similar in many ways to Seattle, though the climate is more extreme. We learned in our Arizona move that there are blessings everywhere and we can be happy wherever we are, and find the same truth now in Texas.
In Arizona I also used my musical training to play my violin in the Mesa Symphony until I retired from that in 2005.
I have also continued my love of writing and have completed three novels, two biblical and one science fiction (how's that for contrast!). My first published n...Expand for more
ovel is a sci-fi titled Untamed Valor. Its prequel, Persistent Valor, was published in April 2017, and a companion prequel should be published in November 2017.
My Pets
My pets are also my hobby. As in high school, I still show dogs, only now they're English cockers (in HS I had a Keeshond). I've had two nationally ranked winners and have recently begun judging at AKC dog shows.
My Kids
We have three sons who played football, baseball, basketball and soccer, wrestled, and swam, as well as showing dogs. Swimming grew into the most intense sport for us, with middle son Kelly competing on a national level while I became a national championship swimming official.
Our oldest, Ian, made me a grandma in 2015 and has taken over his dad's insurance wholesaling business. Kelly is an engineer and draftsman for a company that maps underground cable routes while Evan works with Ian in the Boylan Group business. Grandson Ethan is a blessing to the family, along with his wonderful mom, Anna.
