Virginia's Story
Can you believe it? Just two years to go to graduation, and we were moved to the country. What a bummer!!! I really liked school!! Then my neice was hit by a car, which happened to be driven by a third cousin. Wyandotte Plaza was still fairly new. Zepie's Pizza was the "in" place. The National Guard Armory held dances on Saturday nights. Lets not forget Peters Drive-In! After moving to the country, it really wasn't that bad. It was however Little boring. So, my neice LouAnn Wesley and I decided to hold a dance. We enlisted the help of Pat(last name escapes me right now) who had a brother at Warrensburg College. We cleaned up what was left of Crosstimbers High School gym, which fortunatly the stage was still intact. We hired a band from...Expand for more
the college, and hired concessions. We had a good turnout! We didn't make any money. We had made enough to pay the band, and the concessions. But at least all the kids had a place to go to and stay out of trouble. Had a ball doing it too! Back then, the theaters at Bagnell Dam were just being built. So if you wanted to see a movie, you went to Warsaw; anything else, you went to Springfield. Oh, and lets not forget Pughs Corner! Whatever happened to Lenord? Now the up-to-date. After divorcing Steve, I married a wonderful man named Joe Carver, We were married for 32 years till his death in 2003. I just recently remarried. Dave too is a wonderful man. The pic posted is the day we got married along with my youngest daughter, and his son-in-law.
