Virginia's Story

Update is at bottom, sorry about that. Enjoying life in Florida nowadays; really happy to be here. I'm in Largo, central Pinellas County / Tampa Bay. Added 11/9/11, but I wrote this note a few years ago: As best I can remember it I sure won't remember everybody, so forgive my memory lapses, but to as many as I can off the top of my head I want to say Hello. From my neighborhood, if you're out there Kay Denney, I hope you are well. Richard, Brian and Dierdre- hello. Hoss, Tony and Kerry - I'm pretty sure I will see some of you again. Angie Skinner McQuaig, greetings to you too. From my church, Jimmy and Mary Scruggs, haven't seen you in tons of years, or you Marlene Smith - I remember your mother was secretary at out grammar school. Also hello to Brad, Connie and Ginger, and I would really love to find out how you are Donna Wolfe, Mona Huff, and Barbara Boss. I did find Robin Bray (McFalls now,) as well as Lorrie Brown (Coleman) and her family. Wonderful to be in touch with both of you! Maggie, I hope you'll get back in touch again after your year on the island, and hello to Peggy Corbett Poole. Carmela Gonzales, Kent Kocina, Debbie Baker and Gina McHugh, it was wonderful to see you at the 20-year reunion. I didn't get to the 10th, and apparently no one bothered with a 30 unfortunately. (I wrote this before they had the 35th, but also didn't make it to that.) Jeannie Matlick and Wesley Mapes, Jeannie I remember you not only in chorus, but at one or two Young Life meetings as well. The best to you. Also there sometimes was Lisa/Leza Young, I remember you so much, taking care of your family without a mom. Corinne Hoddinott and Donnie LaSalle Summerour, hope you stayed safe on that motorcycle. Cathy Comeau, Cathy Chapman, Karen Coker, Lori Miller and a few more who are more easily pictured than named, forgive the aging brain cells. Julie Seidel and Jane Dulin, gosh, y'all both seemed so adult and mature for such a young age. Jane, I remember you had I think an older sister Ann, and also seems like towards the end of high school your mom was having another baby. I remember thinking that was exciting. Julie I remember there during late-night rehearsals on one of our musicals, I don't think it was Oliver (11th grade,) I think it was Finean's Rainbow (12th.) After a doughnut run on one of those, some kids you saw were "making out with doughnut crap all over their faces," your wording that struck us very funny at the time, and I actually remember it. We laughed a lot making that musical. (: Other chorus kids remembered, Nan - I'm so sorry, I can't think of your last name. You wanted to teach at a Montessori school I remember. Robin, Lorrie, Richard, Andrew and Ken, the late Celeste with her incredible high notes, Susan Jones, the late Susan Thomas, and my friend Becky Boger, also a very sweet soprano. Besides Susan Thomas there was I believe Ellen Thomas, as well as Susan and Ellen Thompson. I'v...Expand for more
e got it all straight in my head though. (: More siblings, Cherie and Jeff Passavant, Doug and Steve Fallon. Jack Silvers, and the late Mike, some wild and crazy guys. Bruce Pluemer, and David. I saw you had an entry on this site at one point, but didn't look like you had returned. Maybe later. (I caught up with Bruce later on.) Grammar School kids, where are you - the loved-by-everyone Michael Benjamin Davis, and my old favorite Mary Carol Dixon, you were both greatly loved. Howard Mack, I hope to talk to you soon. Huldie Griggs, Julie Daniel, Carol Harper and Carol Barnes, Tammy Benson, David Hanson, Robert Derrick, Grey Houstess, Susan Dupuy (and that great Mustang later on,) Bernette Geddis, Ferlene Gholston, Kent K. My goodness, where did you all go. I remember also Virginia/Ginny Mulvey and Debbie Ashley, who came later years, as did Julie Powell and Julia Marvin, Cindy Berger in the metal brace. I can't believe even a portion of these names are coming to me; Stanley, your last name will pop into my head later, and the late Scott Krajack. Hello to my fellow animal lover Anne Whetstone, too. Walter Kiley where are you? Does anybody remember all our teachers- I had first grade at Doraville with oh no, I've remembered her name all these years, and now it's gone. Huntley Hills 2nd grade I remember (very vaguely) a Miss Neal, third grade has escaped me it seems, my beloved Mrs. Johnson in 4th, so sweet to everybody, and so pretty. 5th grade they got a little tougher, Miss McDaniel, I think she was. 6th, what happened there. I think that's the year we went to more than one teacher, and/or 7th included Ms. McConnell, who said, "machinery hates me," and always got Robert Derrick or someone to set up the projectors for her. I used to remember every single teacher for what seemed like forever, but I guess some have slipped through my defenses here lately. What a shame, I would love to have heard any news of them all. I never went back once to visit the school, and does anyone or everyone remember the very beloved custodian we had there, Curtis. I can't think of his last name now. He seemed to love all the kids and was just a lovely guy, a real sweetheart. Anybody with knowledge about Mr. Moseley, although long gone, I wonder until when he lived. He was one of my favorite teachers and memories there. The same for Ms. Chambers, who probably gave most of us a bit of a love for English, bless her. Charlie Bryant I reached in recent years, and if you look here, hello again! Blessings to you. Tons that I left out, and this will probably always remain unfinished, but my memory just keeps getting older and older. Update 2024, as you can see from photos I've done some disaster relief work with Samaritan's Purse. I encourage everyone to look into it. They do amazing work and it's an unforgettable experience. PS I'm still on atYahoo mail as Virginiadonahue. Y'all write! God bless - I love you all.
