Dear James Blair Classmates,
As many of you suggested in 2011, we are now putting together another multi-year reunion (anyone who attended during 1956 through 1973) for July 29-30, 2016. THIS IS YOUR REUNION.
We have been fortunate to obtain the 4-H Campground for this event. (You know that you can bring a lawn chair, cooler, insect repellent, and sunscreen and have a ball!) Inside seating and picnic tables are available. We will be providing golf carts to shuttle to and from parking area, and will have an area for Handicapped parking for those with valid stickers. Barbecue and smoked chicken with all the fixings will be provided, by Whiskey Hill. This is a BYOB event; no alcoholic beverages will be provided. (Water will be available.) Casual attire.
We need a payment of $40.00 (non-refundable) per person prior to, and no later than, July 10, 2016, for those who wish to attend.
We need your input, addresses (postal and email of yours, your siblings, cousins, or friends) so we can keep you in the loop. We are missing lots of classmateâs info, and hope you can help with finding them. Pass the word, please.
Please note: we need to know your info even if you cannot make it.

t each other on the 29th, and then join the rest of the classes at James Blair to "roam the classroom hallways" one last time on Saturday, July 30th between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (The parking lot closest to Eastern State Hospital, is hopefully going to be ready for our use that day, as it is being expanded) and the doors on that end of the building will be open. The demolition will have started, so the classrooms areas will be all we can see, and is the area of the school to remain intact.
If anyone has memorabilia they wish to donate to the permanent display, planned by the School Board, they can bring it with them to the reunion and the committee will be more than happy to present it to the school at the appropriate time, nearer the completion of the "new" James Blair.
The 4-H Campground was selected, after looking into several places, and will be available right after the "roaming of the halls", for all that wish to just come out and enjoy the day.
New this year, we have planned a silent auction to help raise funds for OUR Jay Bee Veterans, to go to the charity of their choice. This is headed up by Sylvia Thomas Tooley, (class of '66). She has been collecting items from classmates, who have many talents. So here's a chance to own a classmate original!
A table will also be set up with items for sale to raise money for the Ray Freed Memorial Scholarship Fund. We are proud to say that we have supported the Ray Freed fund for the last five (5) years with a $1000.00 donation each year! At this point, we do not know if the bricks will be in our possession. We have been promised only 200 of the bricks will be carefully taken down for the use of raising money for the Ray Freed fund. (Because of the type of brick, which is still unknown, we cannot guarantee they can be engraved.) Donât forget your checkbooks, for both of these worthy causes.
