Virginia's Story
Life
After I went to UT, I married Juan(tony) Serna. We were in the Navy and lived in Norfolk, VA, Memphis TN, Keflavik,IS
Jacksonville, FL and Finally Houston,TX where I still live. I have 5 super kids, i grandson and another on the way in Nov.
I was a pre-school Teacher at our parish church until 95 when I went to work as an educational aide at the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD day care for the children of teen parents. In 1999 I went to work as a supervisor in the furniture dept at Babies "R" us and am currently a manager of a Starbucks. My job really keeps me busy and I really enjoy the people that I meet working there.
Tony and I have been separated for three years but remain friends.
UPdate: shortly after I wrote this we reconciled.
Tony was a Math teacher At Cypress Springs HS in Houston and I worked as a Starbucks manger for Randall's foods. In august 2006 Tony transferred to Cypress Ridge HS also in Houston. On his way home from school on 1 September 2006 his motorcycle was hit by a teen driver a...Expand for more
nd he was killed almost instantly.
His children and I miss him terribly but cherish the times we had together( good and bad).
I now work in the Starbucks at the corner of 290 and Hwy 6 in Houston. Stop by and say hi when your in town.
Update: I now have 4 grands and 2 more on the way. I guess that being from a big family is contagious.
Second update: Today was my last day at Starbucks. I'm going to just be a substitute teacher for Cy-Fair school district. I really loved Starbucks but over the past 2 years it has changed and not for the better. It has become the Mac Donald's of coffee. It has lost it's third place and is just another company that is sales crazy."would you like a pastry with your coffee." Another thing is that while they have good benefits the benefits are contingent on the hours you work per quarter and if your manager over hires you do not get the required hours and loose them for the next quarter. Well, enough grousing tomorrow I start a new/old job I hope I'm still up to it.
