Gina's Story
That picture is not what I look like now. It was taken while I worked for 20 years at Head Start. I do look quite older than that. I had a lot of stress first with marrying Jerry Baker. for 15 years and the "never grow up" syndrome he had while we were married.. I had the kids, took care of them, and worked while he stayed home playing guitar! After working at Head Start that long I went to college to try and get into another profession. I chose Medical Assisting. I took the certification exam. So I was a CMA and then it happened! What you asked? The big C. I had a tumor in my right thigh/hip area. It was successfully removed. All was well until almost the 5 year period where I was at the point where I considered cancer free. then it happened! What you say? Ok since you asked I'll tell you. I fell down and heard a pop. I noticed I couldn't move. The squad was called and I was transported to our great FTMC. It was broke and right away they wanted to send me back to the great clinic! Since I had my cancer surgery there and every thing worked out ok, I thought ok. DUMB MOVE!!!! The great doctor that I had retired! So I had another doctor. What did he do? you asked Ok, don't have to ask me again. He cut the radiated tissue. Everyone knows that kind of tissue won't heal. So I spent the next 16 months going in and out of surgery, I guess around 13 more. I even spent my bd that year under the knife. doctor came in and said," I think I am going to have to amputate." So dumb me said without thinking, "ok". So now I'm missing a right leg.without any kind of a bone in it. I can't work because of the dumb phantom pain. Sometimes I'll be ok and out of no where is such an intense pain that I actually scream! No one seems to want to hire somebody like that. Also,classmates, we are all around the same age and if you haven't yet but will be 65. No one really wants to hire somebody that age, plus handicapped. So right now I receive SSDI and soon will be getting reg SS.
Any way, another thing had happened. Ok, ok this time I heard you ask what? So I'll tell you. After my 3rd marriage. You know 3 strikes and you're out. So now I am permanently divorced! I asked the Lord to take this life because after 3 marriages it is apparent that I could not do it. The Lord works in mysterious ways, I had been shy, that's why everybody called me by that name I don't like. Any way he had called my cousin to the ministry so that took care of the shy part. I approached him (my cousin) and told him how I was feeling and he asked me what I wanted to do. That's when I told him that it was plain to see that I messed up this life really bad. So then I asked Jesus into my heart! I know all that bit happened with my leg after that. You know that I wouldn't had been able to get thru all of that without him in my life. So with him where do I go from here? Who knows, wherever he takes me!
