Virginia's Story
Hi everyone,
Back in Pico Rivera when I was doing my best not to graduate from high school (which I did through continuation school), I'd have never guessed I'd be doing what I do now, or have done what I've done over the last 45 years. I teach English at college level. I spent a decade or so doing that at Santa Ana College and CSUF. I also married (twice) and have three daughters, the oldest of whom has two daughters. I can't believe I'm the grandmother of a 21-year-old. I met my husband Tom when I went to work for him as a legal secretary. His law practice was in Costa Mesa, so we lived in and around Orange County. After he retired we moved to Nevada near Lake Tahoe. Out my office at home window I view the Sierras. Deer and bears are regular visitors to my yard. Probably the most surprising part of my life story (to me) is the amount of travel I've done. I've been to ...Expand for more
at least 40 countries and loved every minute of getting to know the cultures and people. My favorite has become England (our ancestors across the pond). We belong to a Club in London and go there a few times a year.
I aspire to be a novel writer and have completed two manuscripts and am working on a third. Of course, no one's life is all beer and skittles. My son died in 1995, and my mom and dad passed away during the last 5 years. To honor my parents, the whole family took a trip to Costa Rica (where they met during WWII). It was poignant and wonderful. I scrapbooked our visit (another big hobby of mine).
My two younger daughters still live in O.C., so I visit there monthly. I've memorized the drive down 395! Putting my "story" in here has been a challenge. It's hard to know what to put in or leave out. I think I've pretty much summed up my life though, so it's a wrap.
