W.C.'s Story
I left home at 18, immediately after summer was over, inspired by the finality in my mothers voice as i was leaving the yard to go to west end park where I had already spent most of my summer. she said, "W.C. summers over, its time for you to start looking for a job" :) I had applied to several colleges just to see if I would get accepted and I did but knew my parents could not afford to send me so I did the next best thing, I enlisted in the navy. ege. She said I knew you wanted to go. I could'nt beleive she still remembered. I could have cried and still can when I think about it, how empathetic she was after all those years. I told her that was alright, things worked out just fine. You taught me all the things I needed to know right here, love, compassion, self dignity, sacrifice, family values and most importantly the importance of keeping GOD in my life. Yall, I've hit some bumps in the road and made many mistakes along the way but I've held true to those values and they have served me well......Peace....
