Wade's Story
I recently attended the Monterey Bay Academy (MBA) 50th Anniversary class of 1974 reunion. April 27, 2024.
This MBA class of 1974 50th high school reunion was the first time I attended a high school reunion and I found myself ill-prepared to provide a brief synopsis of my life for the past 50 years. If you have a slight interest in reading about my life in a nutshell:
After leaving MBA I lived in Charlo, MT, which is 50 to 60 miles north of Missoula, MT a bit off highway 93… the highway you would travel on to reach Flathead Lake, Kalispell and the Glacier International Peace Park. I then went to college in Havre, Mt, which is located in the north central eastern part of Montana, maybe 10 to 20 miles south of the Canadian border. Then became a college dropout and worked on a ranch located in the Hanford/Armona area of the San Joaquin Valley which is maybe 20 miles or so from Fresno, CA.
I then went to Pacific Union College and graduated in 1981. I got a job in the health care industry working in the finance compliance reporting area. I have been working at an outfit called Sutter Health for the past 27 years and am still working… no specific plans to retire at this time other than a nebulous couple of years from now.

ago, February 2015, I was baptized into the Pleasant Hill, CA SDA church. I know… hard to believe that me being an old man accepted Jesus as his Saviour and got baptized. Through this, I have learned that a Christian is not a state of being, that instead it is a state of becoming every day. I still live in the Pleasant Hill/Concord/Walnut Creek, CA area which is maybe 10 miles or so east of Oakland/Berkeley, CA.
My wife became ill with a terminal diagnosis in April 2015. Yes, two months after I was baptized. My supervisor at Sutter Health allowed me to work from home during 2019 which enabled me to care for my wife 24/7 the last four years of her life. She died in our home June 2023, with her daughter Cynthia and me by her side as she breathed her last.
Sam Vigil suggested… put the thought in my head and encouraged me to I attend this year’s (2024) MBA class reunion. I admit that I was a bit reluctant to attend the reunion… however a couple of friends also encouraged me to attend… I think that they were thinking it was past time for me to begin moving on with my life after my wife's death. This year’s MBA class reunion was the first time I went anywhere since my wife died…
And this is the last 50 years of my life in a nutshell.
