Wally's Story
Life
After HS entered the Navy and was stationed on a submarine in Norfolk, VA. Lived in NYC for three of those years. On discharge moved to Tigard. Moved to Walla Walla, Wa. in March of 1970. Worked in sporting goods until I was hired on as a firefighter for the Walla Walla Fire Dept. Was a paramedic, lieutenant and retired as a Captain in 1989. Was Chapter Manager for local Red Cross for two years before accepting a position as a computer instructor for Walla Walla Community College. I received a BA degree in Theology. Had a computer consulting business for 10 years prior to being hired as an instructor. I have since gotten my vocational certification (vocational equivalent of a Masters.)
My wife (Pam) and I have three girls and 10 grandchildren. We played tournament racquetball until a knee injury put an end to that. Now I ride bicycle and have done Seattle to Portland in one day for the past seven years, did Cycle Oregon and rode Canyonville to Grant Pass, Crater Lake and back in a weeks great adventure.
I plan to retire in 2012 and do part...Expand for more
time consulting, traveling and enjoying the kids and grand kids along with some cycling.
I have shared my childhood and adult life with a lot of people that have asked me to. Many of them told me I should write a book with my life experiences. So, I put a query out on my facebook page asking who might be interested in my life history. The reply was overwhelmingly "YES". With that encouragement I began documenting events on facebook and have received some wonderful comments and encouragement to continue writing.
