Grandfalls
by Walt Perryman (1979)
As years pass, home town memories do not just fade away.
Instead, I believe that they get stronger everyday.
Memories, I have many, some good and some bad.
Many are happy, but some are very sad.
Grandfalls changes with time, as everything does.
But I will always remember it, back the way it was.
I remember every building that is no longer there.
I remember so many people, when and where.
Grandfalls was my world growing up and this may sound insane,
Back then, I thought East Texas must be some where close to Crane.
Since then, I have traveled to many far away places,
And I have seen millions of new ...Expand for more
faces.
But, no matter where I go, it's always on my mind.
The name "Grandfalls Texas" you can find,
In the Arabian Desert painted on a big rock,
Down in New Zealand carved on a boat dock,
Up in New York in a night club,
In a Paris bathroom and a London Pub,
It's in several places way out in L.A.
Guess, I am from Grandfalls, I was trying to say!
I reckon old Grandfalls still means a lot to me,
Even though I have been gone since 1963.
I don't know many people in town anymore; but, what is scary,
I sure know a bunch of them, out in that old cemetery.
No matter where I live or where I roam,
Grandfalls, Texas will always be home.
