Walter holds a BA in Theatre from Shaw University, an MFA in Acting from UCLA, and another MFA, in playwriting from Yale University's Yale School of Drama.
Workplace
Walter has worked in theatre, television and film as a Writer, Producer, Director and Actor. He has written fourteen plays and has been produced or workshopped Off Broadway, some of which include, The Henry Street Settlement, Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, the WPA Theatre, and Intar Stage II. Regionally he?s been produced at, Yale Repertory Theatre, The Eugene O?Neill National Playwrights Conference, Theatre Three, in Dallas and The Seattle Group Theatre, among others. His play, MORE THAN A FRIEND, was optioned by MGM to be developed into a feature. For his work in theatre, he is the recipient of citations from the New York City Council, the Brooklyn Borough President, Brooklyn Congressional Office and the New Jersey State Assembly. He is also the recipient of a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Playwriting Fellowship, The Samuel Goldwyn Dramatic Writing Award, The Jack Nicholson Award, and selected as an Outstanding Young Men in America. He holds a BA in Theatre from Shaw University, an MFA in Acting from UCLA, and another in playwriting from Yale University?s Yale School of Drama. Mr. Bennett served as a Staff Writer for THE COSBY SHOW, Executive Story Editor for NBC?s , HERE AND NOW, Co-Producer with Norman Lear?s 704 HAUSER STREET, a producer on ABC's BUDDIES with Wind Dancer Productions, a Producer on NBC's IN THE HOUSE, and as Executive Producer of THE STEVE HARVEY SHOW. He has written pilots for both CBS and the Fox networks. He was the Consulting Producer on the Aaron Spelling Pilot, FINALLY HOME and wrote HBO?s first original programming for the internet. Most recently, Mr. Bennett?s screenplay, ARTICLE ONE, was selected as a finalist in the Sundance Writers Workshop.
