Lauren's Story
Life
Hi class of 79!! I have been married for just about 25 years now, and have 2 kids - a 23 yr old boy and a 20 yr old girl! Our son graduated from UGA (University of Georgia) and is now working in Philadelphia PA (at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and loves it so far! Our daughter is a sophomore at the University of Georgia and is really enjoying it!! We live out in the woods in NW Georgia - loving every minute of it!! My husband and I are having fun doing things now that the kids are growing up - we ride our bikes every chance we get when the weather is warm enough and love it! My biggest crush?? Didn't really have time for a crush, had a steady boyfriend almost all through high school, but I have to say, there were quite a few "hotties" back then! Most inspirational teacher? Mr. Failoni and also Ms Mastropolous. I probably wouldn't do it all over again, kind of like "been there, done that" attitude! If I went back and did anything different, then maybe I wouldn't have the wonderful life and family I have now.
There are so many great memories of high school and great friends, like the time Barbara Sperbeck and I decided to skip school with our boyfriends the first day back from Christmas break...... We went to school long enough to tell everyone we were skipping, waited on the frog pond for our boyfriends, and spent the day at Crandon Park Beach, coming home sunburned and sandy. Who'd have known? Just everybody! Coach Robkin ratted us out and we got in trouble!
We also used to go over to Bobby
Stetson's house across the street from the school and hang out, and he would even let us drive his car in Interama and practice turning, parking and speeding! How can anyone forget Gary Tremblay in high school! He used to pi...Expand for more
ck so many of us up from school, that his mailcart would be packed to the hilt! Or when he would drive his brothers van, all decked out with the cool airbrush on it called "The Butcher". It was a cool van, it had the mini fridge in it!
High School also means lots of fun through the years with good friends like Spencer Baron, Stephanie Rosenfeld, Cindy Skolnick, Judy Ceasar, The Ferrari twins, Julie Martin, Pyper Goldsmith, Jill Matthias, Liz DioGuardia and SOOooooooooo many more buddies and friends, too many to mention! I think about the high school days alot, and now that I have two kids in college, I am always telling my kids of some prank we pulled, a game we won, or a great story about a good friend!
I was bummed that there weren't more people at the 30 year reunion, life is short and it would've been great to see more of you!

Applied for my first job with friends (Cindy and Judy) on the way home from Haulover in shorts with sandy feet! Got hired at Chicken Unlimited on 163rd and 6th ave and only worked there for a month or two! After high school, worked at Miami Shores Country Club at the tennis pro shop, did some babysitting and ended up babysitting for a lady that asked me to go to Puerto Rico with her daughter for the summer! Spent my summer hanging out at Palmas Del Mar tennis courts and pro shop, playing tons of tennis and having a ball - and getting paid for it! I had over 20 jobs before I started working at North Miami General Hospital in 1984! Worked in the business office and also worked in the X-Ray department for a few years. Moved to the Hollywood area, so I took a great job working at Hillcrest Country Club and did so for 7 years. Loved it and was payroll supervisor and worked in the office. Moved to Tn after hurricane Andrew and got a job working for a tractor dealership, then in 95 moved to NW Georgia where we still are - have been working at a plant that builds ranges - I've built MANY ranges in over 15 years, so you may have one in YOUR home that I built! Also do bookwork for my husbands business, he installs custom showers, mirrors, windows and storefront and loves it!
I always wanted to be a great person when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a cool idea. As it turns out, they were so right.
If I won $100 million, I'd give quite a bit of it to my church, then spend the rest on my bed, roll in it and sleep on it.
