Walter's Story
Life
What can I say? I do believe I'm running 10 years behind in life, but that's okay. Everybody thinks I'm at least 10 years younger than I am. At least in looks.
I now live in Hawaii on my own boat. I've lived here since 1995 when I decided to fly here one way with $20 in my pocket for the winter and never left except for family events and one trip to Alaska to visit a friend. Guess I came up quick.
Never thought I'd say this, but California's cold! All of you probably wondered what happened to me from high school on.
Well, middle of senior year ('86-'87) I had to move to Marina. Went to Seaside High and hated it, so I took the GED and missed only 2 questions. Went to Monterey Peninsula College on Ft. Ord, but ended up moving again. Moved around a lot for a few years. A little trouble, a lot of regretful adventures. Back to school for electronics tech- aced that. went to San Jose state. Worked for a radio station for a little while. Found out that stars are people like you and me with a lot more problems. Decided to drop out of life for a little while and ...Expand for more
went to live in the wilderness for a few months in New Mexico. Great experience! Hitch-hiked back to California for my birthday (never hitch-hike thru Las Vegas- bad idea). Stayed in California for a month or two, and bought a one way ticket to Hawaii. Arrived here with $20 in my pocket. That bought me one meal at Burger King and a night's stay at an international youth hostel (if you want to stay in Hawaii cheap, a hostel is the way to go $15-20 a night). That gave me enough time to get a cash paying job until I got hired a week later at 5 different jobs on the same day. Before I knew it, everybody I sent postcards to had arrived on my doorstep. I got them all jobs(some became my bosses), paid their rent- which they paid back promptly 6 months later.
Ah, hell. There is no way I can fit everything into 4000 characters. I'll just sum it up. I now own a business and manage another. I own my own home - a boat actually. Maybe I'll sail to Tahiti or California if I get the urge. I live in Paradise and work in Waikiki. What more can you ask for, except family?
Aloha.
