FAVE HOBBIES over the years: hiking (Cascade Range of WA and OR, High Sierras of CA, the...Expand for more
deserts in AZ winters, and the south island of New Zealand), sea kayaking, cooking, fitness, photography, gardening, art (colored pencil and pen and ink), and taking college classes at night; most at home when hiking the mountains or wandering a beach.
Coach Carey frequently used the quote: “A Jack of all trades is Master of none”; well, you can call me 'Jack'! My insatiable curiosity always kept me moving on to the next new thing; I wanted to see and do it all; I managed to take a big bite out of what life has to offer and am a happy and better person for doing so! I've seen some sights and done some really cool things.
All in all, I've led a charmed and blessed life; blessed, after 51 years of bachelorhood, with a wife who is also my best friend; we are joined at the hip; she was caregiver extraordinaire over the years I was sick; never wavered; true grit. Charmed because whatever I needed along the way somehow always managed to show up. I am grateful for gifts received, especially wisdom that came from (the many!) lessons learned the hard way. Everyone should be so lucky!
