Walter's Story

Life After high school, I went to the Air Force Academy, graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors in Engineering Mechanics and a 2nd Lieutenant commission. After that, I spent 3 years in California doing flight test and evaluation, then I moved to Dayton, Ohio and got a Masters degree in Systems Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. I stayed at Wright-Patt and worked on the B-2 Stealth Bomber. Before leaving Wright-Patt/Dayton, I met my wife, Tammie. Together we moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where I taught Engineering at my alma mater, the Air Force Academy. We had our first boy, Joshua, and girl, Megan, there. We then moved back to Wright-Patt/Dayton, where in 1996 I got out of ...Expand for more
the Air Force and had boy number two, Timothy. I worked for General Motors as a production supervisor and then with a small computer company where I have was the Engineering Support manager. Boy number three, Christopher arrived in June 1998. In July 2000, we moved to Houston, TX where I took a position as the Director of Engineering Services for Telxon. Telxon was bought out by Symbol Technoologies one week after I arrived. I am now at Compaq working as a Marketing Program Manager. Well, HP bought Compaq and now I work for HP in Marketing. On the side, my boys and I have a small business making wooden swords and shields - although we may have to shut it down because of the new Child Safety Law Congress enacted in 2008. We'll see.
