Wanda's Story
After I graduated from Garinger, I attended NC State University for 2 years, then went with my suitemates to Ocean Drive and met my future husband there. We dated for a year while I was in RAleigh and then got married. I transferred to francis Mation University in Florence, SC where I graduated in Medical Technology in 1979. I started working for Georgetown Hospital System as a medical technologist and then moved up to Hematology sr. tech, assistant director, director of the lab, then Compliance Officer in 1998 while I was still the lab director. we built waccamaw community hospital at Murrell's Inlet 7 years ago, and I was the System Compliance Officer and then added Risk Management. MHA in Healthcare Administration and had my 1st son, Cody. The year Hurricane Hugo hit, I had my 2nd son, Clint. Then in 1991 I had my 3rd son Caleb. Now I'm the Vice President of the Hospital System of compliance and clinical information. Still involved in National Medicare and CMS committees for billing, and still involved in our church. We went to Mexico on a mission trip a couple of years ago and stayed with the families-- that Spanish I took at Garinger actually came in handy! We live on Black River outside of Georgetown, SC, and have lived here 27 years.My sister Anita lives across the street from my mom and dad in Waxhaw, all doing good, and Bruce lives in Nashville.
