Wanda's Story
Life
David Shoemaker and I have been married for 30 years this past June and we have 3 children. Lindsay, 25, Brooke,24, and David 19. Lindsay has a son, Hayden who turned 2 on July 12,2004. We have lived all over the US while transferring with David's job. It has been an adventurous life and I wouldn't change a thing. I have not "worked" in 25 years. At that time we adopted Lindsay at age 1 and 8 months later we had Brooke. After a few years in Paige Hill Estates, we moved to Los Angeles and have "commuted" home as often as we could. I enjoyed every volunteer assignment that came up for the kid's many different schools. I learned enough about cheerleading, marching bands,jazz bands and concert bands,Boy Scouts, booster clubs and fundraising to write a book--by the way--I did...Expand for more
that too. It was a band handbook (80 pages) and boy did I step out of my box to do that! I helped to found a Fine Arts Booster Club for David's high school in NC. After serving as Co-President for two years and raising enough money to buy a grand piano for the auditorium, it was time to move again. We are now in Chicago, IL. I still enjoy smocking and sewing when I can. I even have a claim to fame with one of my smocked dresses. Lionel Richey's wife bought one from Storkland to give to Kenny Roger's wife as a baby gift. My parents are responsible for the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, AL. My sister, Beth is the museum curator. Go by and see it sometime. It is amazing and be sure to tell Beth that Wanda sent you. God is Good and to Him I give all credit for a blessed life.
