Life
From Selma, AL to New Jersey. You couldn't make it up. Rich and I were transferred here in '79 kicking & screaming, but I'll be up front...I am a "born again Yankee". Still love that southern upbringing though. Missed the food for years; family members used to smuggle in peas and okra, grits and self rising corn meal when they came to visit! We are in Morris Cty, 40 min. from the Lincoln Tunnel. We have one of those civilized divorces and share three beautiful kids and four grandkids. Rich is disabled...diabetes, and destroyed feet/ankles from all the years of abuse playing basketball. He's as big and sweet as ever. I'm a Re/Max Realtor w/a large busy client base. I love gardening, travel, cooking & music (rock). I have family in Bangkok, Paris, & Quebec, so traveling is a passion. I love good wine, the weather in NJ, Queen, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton & seeing what's left of them at MSG in the City. It has been great hearing from many of you again.
'07 update...Rich has passed..he's at New Live Oak with brother Billy,near Larry Rowell.I miss him...He just went to sleep.His grandsons are huge and are his image... genes are an incredible thing..."little Andrew" was dribbling a basketball at 18 mo. , and was never on less than two b...Expand for more
aseball teams since Little League. He is 20 now and finally has come to grips w/ the fact that he is not going to play for the Yankees! Nathan is 19 and is 6' 2" w/size 13 feet since he was 13! He is a musician, plays tennis and soccer for his high school. (update) Nathan is a Sophomore at Rutgers in Bio Med Engineering... The boys look at Rich's pictures from Mizzou and he is a stranger, since the only image they know was the tall bent man on crutches who lost his spirit long ago. He loved Selma and didn't grow away as I did. His entire family is gone except his sister. How can it be? Life is unfair. Our family is large (with the inlaws); some are here in NJ and we stick close together. The latest is that all holidays are celebrated at Andrew's new 200 yr old restored "tavern" on a pony express route in the NJ boonies. I have posted a picture since you have never seen anything like this, I'm sure. I don't cook the whole meals anymore, and the menu is getting strange as the family gets more extended!!! I still make okra, blackeyed peas, and I don't "fry" my turkey! Somethings don't change....I still eat grits w/my eggs!
