Ward's Story
Left FCHS in '64, Grandmother died, and I went to Lexington to reside with my mother and step-father. Transfered to Lafayette for my Senior year, which was a great experience. Enjoyed a busy Sr. year, and developed some truly fine friends there and maintained many from Franklin County. Married my college sweetheart, great guy, just did not work out for us. Worked in the Athletic Dept, as a student at UK, met and eventually married Charley Pell. We moved to AL,his home state) he became Coach at Jacksonville State Universtiy. Charley had two adorable children from a previous marriage, so inherited 2 of the 3 children when I married, birthed a son in '70. In '74, moved to VA.TECH. In '76 we went to Clemson University. Charley was the Head Coach there '77 & '78, from there he became the Coach at the University of Florida. Loved every minute of the coaching life, the players, boosters and the many life time friends we cultivated from each scho...Expand for more

Have 4 precious grandchildren and love being involved in their lives and activities, the 3 children, in addition to wonderful friends have been my rock since losing Charley to cancer in 2001. We returned to AL for the 4th quarter of his life, and I have remained here, as it has been home with children and grandchildren not too far away, Huntsville, Birmingham and Biloxi,MS. Carrick, birthed son is in Boston.
Reconnected with many old friends at LHS class of '65's 40th reunion, not just from LHS, but also from FCHS, as some of the classmates at FCHS are friends with my LHS buddies.
Am returning to reside in Lexington this fall. While I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life, it is so difficult to leave family and dear friends and the JSU football program, which I continue to be involved with through the J-Club. Still love the Clemson Tigers and the Florida Gators, and attempt to attend at least one game a year at both schools.
