Warren's Story

In high school, I was a quiet, reserved (some would say shy) wall-flower. After graduating from Prescott High, I studied for a year at Yavapai College, and then spent the next two years living in Japan serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The experience in Japan introduced me to a much larger world and brought me out of my shell. Upon returning, I met my future wife and began classes at the University of Arizona. I married in 1984 and will soon celebrate 25 years of marriage. In my final undergrad year at the U of A, I was one of 30 accepted into the newly formed Entrepreneurship program where I attended classes with Masters degree students, and graduated with a BSBA in 1986. My wife Rowane (Parkes) graduated from PHS in 1981, and while I knew of her, I didn't pay much attention to her until I returned from Japan in 1983. We have twin sons who are now 20 years old. Corbin is attending school at Mesa Community College, majoring in Business, and Brennan is serving a mission in Paraguay. Prior to his mission, Brennan also studied at MCC, majoring in music (classical guitar). Rowane works at Arizona State University Student Financial Assistance office. After working in management positions for companies ranging from a restaurant holding company to a large insurance company, I returned to school earning a Master of International Manag...Expand for more
ement degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 2001. I currently manage the operations of a small aerospace manufacturer that produces aluminum housings for telemetry systems and portable satellite earth stations used in the shipping industry, by the U.S Military, and by Homeland Security. One of our products accompanies every NASA astronaut on each Space Shuttle flight. I am also the managing director and co-founder of Thunder River Group, LLC, a holding company for a number of business ventures. Our current project is Thunder River Adventures, an adventure tour company that just started operations. I spent most of the summer establishing new tour itineraries and training tour guides. This summer we took clients to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument north of Lake Powell where we rappelled into and explored a number of slot canyons, enjoying the many lush dripping springs and natural arches hidden below the cliff walls. I am actively involved in the Boy Scouts, having become a leader when my twin boys turned 8 and joined the Cub Scouts. I have enjoyed many years of high adventure activities and served in a number of Scouting leadership positions. I am currently a climbing/rappelling instructor for the Grand Canyon Council of the BSA. My hobbies include photography, mountain biking, building woodstrip/fiberglass canoes, and canyoneering.
