Warren's Story

It's been a long time since June '71. Never thought about 50 years going by, much less what this world would be like at that time. BTW, for those who are interested, read this and do the calculation🤪 The reunion for class of '71 was scheduled for mid August with Sexton and Eastern HSs. But was postponed 1 year due to COVID19. The planned date is August 12-13 as of now. Learning to get around school rules and regulations was a hard thing to do. But, times change and with a bit of quick thinking we can all figure out how to maneuver around those oddities. Take the Everett. Class. 71. At google mail and you can contact the principle. Or, go to places like the everett class. 71 commercial to fibd things out. Ive spent just short of 20 years in Florida. Always said I wanted to live, work and vacation in the same place. Unfortunately, Florida has suffered, at times, more than MI due to its tourist economy. The big difference is, even though the economy might be in the gutter in both places, one can shovel sand instead of snow. I've been deeply involved with the Florida outdoors. Florida is a particularly fragile state. It has all of the visual trappings one can hope for in a paradise, but the resources of fresh water and land vs. the desire to grow crops, raise cattle and entertain several hundreds of thousands of fun seeking people are at odds. Point blank, the reason why people like to come to Florida is quickly being over run by people searching for a year around good time. To try and count...Expand for more
er the drain of what makes Florida livable, there are groups, of which I am a member of 2, that work hard to keep the negative impact of people in check. I came to Florida to live a give back. Working and playing to keep this precious and fragile state livable requires lots if attention and work. A lot more than Michigan who also has the blessings of a tourist economy. So, going out to kayak or boat around the estuaries, springs and coast line to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature's presence also includes removal of a bit of trash here or there. Then there is the water we all like to swim, snorkel or dive in that is so warm and enjoyable but is in dire need of help with pollution control. And, then there is the FL government that wants to see income from development of every square foot of beach front and pave roads and parking lots to to and from all of the tiki bars and hotels. Then there are those who want to keep parts of Florida wild and natural so that the endanger species and fragile land can survive the next decade and the following decades for all to enjoy. Now you should be able to see and understand what I've been up to for the last 20 years. Prior to that, I explored the trappings of being a corporate researcher, design engineer, departmental coordinator, business owner, husband, father and land care taker (owner). There are 2 terms I have come to fully understand - "Easy Come, Easy Go" has a new and revealing meaning at this time of life. And, "Attitude Is Everything."
