Wayne's Story
Life
After spending time in both public school and college teaching, my recent experiences involve being Department Chairs/Director of Teacher Education programs at Ashland University in Ohio, Florida Southern College, and Frostburg State University in Maryland. I first came to McNeese State University in Louisiana as Head of the Department of Teacher Education, but now serve as the Dean of the College of Education at McNeese.
I am married to a wonderful woman, Patricia, and have three grown children from my first marriage and 2 step-children at home. We love to travel, including cruises and trips to Vegas. Quiet time is spent watching movies or lounging in the pool.
I was fortunate to "beat the draft" (remem...Expand for more
ber when those numbers were being pulled from the hopper?) by enlisting in the Air Force two days before I was scheduled to go to Army basic training at Fort Dix. Spent 3 1/2 years in the USAF, most of the time on the island of Crete, off the coast of Greece, as a Radio Communications Analyst.
My baseball playing days were shortened when I became an umpire to help finance my college education. Wound up umpiring for 18 years in New York, Indiana, and Ohio. Had the opportunity to coach both a full-year United States Swimming program and a high school swim program while in Florida. My boys team won the 1995 Florida State High School Championships and I was named boys high school coach of the year for their efforts.
