Wayne's Story
Will fill this out later, after I figure how to upload a pic other than my mug shot!
O.K., think I got it. Wayne here. I was a tall dorky kid with glasses that often was too shy, and too awkward for my own good. But, I was dealing with a lot of family of origin issues (actually, blended family of origin issues) and working my ass off on two ranches, a job, and keeping up those huge yards so many of us and our families had! I made it through Brady High, and left home before I turned 18, but I wanted to finally thank so many of you for being who you were, for being good examples of humanity, and for making my life a little more bearable and fun in those unbearable years of growing up.
I see so many names that sound familiar, and that bring back good memories, and some of those names actually have faces, and bring back even better memories! We were a talented group of kids, despite our isolated small town West Texas environment, and we were most often kind and polite, and accepting. Every time I see the movie âThe Last Picture Showâ, it reminds me so much of growing up in West Texas, and I love the memories it brings back, even though the last scene, which the producer rushed through, was exceptionally bad LOL. I donât remember anyone smoking cigarettes or dope (at least we saved that for later), donât remember a lot of swearing, and certainly donât remember anyone being beat up or bulliedâ¦so different from schools today it seems.
Since leaving Brady in 1968, I was married and divorced only once (fast learner here and that was enough for me) had four kids who are all professio...Expand for more
nals and who are very independent. I have had a fascinating life that would make a great movie if any of you are Hollywood people! I have lived in some of the most beautiful places on earth, almost exclusively on islands or on various coasts.
I remember that many of you were dealing with some of the same family and personal issues I was dealing with, and I am hoping that Classmates is a way of healing some of those memories, and also of reliving many of the joys and fun times we had. Since realizing that I should join, I have, on several nights, not been able to go to sleep remembering so many of you (even thought Iâm pretty sure not many of you will remember me), and remembering the odd and funny times we had, and making a mental list of the people I want to thank for being so inspiring, kind, funny, and decent human beings and kids.
At this stage of my life, I am still poor, but happy and optimistic and I keep buying those lottery tickets! If any of you have a couple of million you donât need, I can understand your need to share, and can lighten your load a little.
I will probably, at some point, move back to the hill country to die, but not to Brady. My best memories are south of Town, where I felt the hill country began, and that is where I received my best inspirations growing up.
If I can figure out Classmates, I will be active, but I bought only a three months subscription, just incase! Are there no chat rooms? How come they donât have a yearbook for our class of 1968? Any tips or tricks will be appreciated too. Say âHowdyâ, and see if we can raise some memories!
