Wayne's Story
In the same mode as Becky Britton Volz, here is a bulleted snapshot of my life since Hillcrest days;
- Attended Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas, majoring in Biblical studies
- Married Sandy Stuart during senior year at Harding.
- Spent 10 years in youth ministry in New Orleans, Albuquerque, and Stillwater, OK
- Have 3 children; Anissa (age 38) and Stuart (age 36), and Amanda (age 27)
- Joined the faculty of Oklahoma State University in 1979, in the Family Relations & Child Development department
- Finished my Ph.D. at OSU in 1983
- Divorced in 1986..
- Moved to Raleigh, NC in 1992...Expand for more
, and served 17 years on faculty at NC State University.
- Remarried in 1993 to Deborah Clingman.
- 3 stepdaughters; Courtney (age 35), Sarah (age 32), and Blake (age 26)
- Retired in July, 2008.
- We are expecting grandchild #1 in May (Deborah's oldest daughter, Courtney is expecting).
- We currently live in Wake Forest, NC, just north of Raleigh. Our children live all over the country, so we only get to see them occasionally. Although I am retired, I teach a couple of classes each semester at Meredith College in Raleigh. But mostly, I am enjoying the low-stress life of retirement.
