Time flies huh?? Kinda hard to sum up over 30 years and NOT exceed 2000 characters but here goes...
Those of you who knew/know me well might recall my affinity for music. Today, I'm singing professionally with an original member of THE PLATTERS! We're billed as HERB REED & THE PLATTERS and I've been an integral member of the unit since 1993. You wouldnt believe the exotic places we've travelled to and the celebrities I've met along the way. Needless to say, its been an awesome experience that continues to unfold!
After High School, I sang in a local quartet called CRYSTAL BLUE. One of the guys from that group currently performs with me in THE PLATTERS which I consider a blessing.
I held down several banking/retail jobs post high school as well. In 1984, I was accepted to Umass/Boston with a major in Sociology, aminor in Spanish and a concentration in International Relations. I studied abroad 3 times as an undergrad:Spain/summer...Expand for more
of1987...Argentina/fall of 1988 and Japan/summer of 89.
I was also very active in Student Activites while at Umass. The most visible position I had was on THE STUDENT SENATE where I chaired the Budget $ Finace Committee for 3 consecutive years. I still managed to keep music in the mix and sang with the university's Jazz ensemble in addition to doing local gigs (with various vocal groups) local musical productions and some minor solo stuff on the side.
It was a lot of fun helping to plan our first and second class reunions ~ The first reunion (actually our 26th anniversary cause we couldnt get it together in time for a 25th) took place on 7/26/03 and the second (our 30th) on 07/07/07. Both events were well attended and everybody ~ Hopefully, we'll try and do it again for our 35th in 2012.........ANY SUGGESTIONS ANYBODY ????
In closing, I'm always open to reconnect with old classmates so hit a brotha up when the time is WRITE !
