With another holiday approaching, its time for the annual update. I'm so grateful to have reconnected with so many friends from EHS here and on Facebook. Especially my dear friends Steve Westra and Frank Day. There are many more friends I have been looking for and hope to reconnect with. EHS was such a big part of all our lives. I went to DU after we graduated from EHS. DU was an amazing experience. Some of the teachers there were really important to me. I also joined a wonderful fraternity called Beta Theta Pi. I made many terrific friends there. Not the least of which is Jerry Montgomery (also from EHS), my dear friend and pledge father. I was lucky to serve in student government at DU and also had a great experience on the University Debate Team. I studied International Relations there and really thought I knew what the world was about. That was a silly thing in retrospect. After DU, I served a 2-year mission in the Philippines for the Mormon church. I spent the entire time on a rural island called Mindanao where things were very different from Colorado. Wow! That was a real eye opener and heart breaker. I never realized just how lucky we were in the US until I lived in the third world. Nothing I learned at DU prepared me for the disillusionment I would find in the Philippines. I moved to California after that and eventually married a very nice filipina.
