Wayne's Story
Life
After graduation I attended UNC-W on a 4 year music scholarship, but did not graduate. As you may have noticed, I have not appeared on tv or recorded any albums. I took early retirement from ATT and became a partner in a P&C insurance agency in San Antonio, Tx. I sold to my partners and went into the golf apparel industry since 1985. I was with Polo/Ralph Lauren for 13 years and, and was responsible for the development and start up of the golf division, along with 6 other people, and traveled the US attending major golf championships. As of October 2003, I am partner and Vice-President of an automotive manufacturing company. We manufacture, paint, chrome, and assemble bumpers and other related car parts to the Big 3 automotive companies. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.
Well, that challenge is still ongoing, but a little on the back burner.
It is now Feb. 2006. I was appointed Sr. VP- Corporate Development, National Sales Mgr for a golf and corporate apparel company. Back in the sports arena and a big challenge to help the company reach new levels. A lot of travel at our age, but still employed.
Well, as the world turns, the tide will change, and mine is constantly changing!! It is now January 2008 and I will catch you up. The last apparel company was bought out and the new group did not include me, so on to Calvin Klein Golf for 4 months, and they withdrew their entry into the golf marketplace as well. This relationship ended 10/2007. I was unemployed and attended Commercial Truck Driving ...Expand for more
School and obtained a Class A commercial license. I took a job with a trucking company out of Montana and drove through 47 states and 150,000 miles. I was offered an instructor and sales position at the school in Michigan where I obtained my license. I also teach a Decision Based Driving class to the traffic offenders of the Macomb County Michigan Court System.
Who knows what is next, but as we ripen, the terrain does seem to change like the seasons. Will update as the journey continues.Well, it is October 2009 and I am now back in sales for Garmin GPS Golf Fleet Division. Anew venture, but thank God I am out of truck driving! I will be traveling Michigan and Ohio. I also moved to Lexington, MI, a small resort village of 1020 residents on Lake Huron. What a great place to live.
I have a lovely wife that has tolerated me for the last 23 years and inherited 2 step sons that are 37 and 34 yrs. I am now a grandfather and really enjoy them both. I have lived in the Detroit area for 20 years and still learning to shovel snow with a smile on my face, it has yet to appear. Do I ever miss the beach life and weather!! My wife is a cancer survivor after 2 surgeries and is doing great. My Dad passed away October 2008 with lung cancer. My health is still good and I consider myself very lucky as I continue my journey. I think of the school years often and wonder about many of the classmates. I look forward to the time when many stories can be shared. I look forward to hearing from many of you. Good luck and health to all!!
