Wayne's Story

My story begins at Silver Lake, first Cottage Street in 1942 and then Main Street where I spent my formative years on into High School. Some how managed a High School Diploma and joined the Navy reserves during Senior year of High School. During years 58-60 I worked at various occupations during summers as kennelman and dog groomer to shoe worker in Lowell's former shoe mills. Entered "boot camp at Great Lakes" twice and was from there assigned as weather observer aboard CVA-62. I was released from active duty July of 1963 and took up company with Barbara Smith class of 65. I became employed at Avco reserch, Ritter trucking and the Animal Rescue League of Boston We married after her graduation from High School and have raise two progeny. Both accomplished in their own right. One as electrical engineer and the other BS in music and real life homemaking. My further occupational persuits have been. First commercially as a Morticians apprentice, Cape Cod Moving and storage company driver/lumper, A wire cloth manufacturer loom operator, freight hauler 14 years as driver, Mayflower Van LInes, Retail oil Sales, During these times serving on active duty at various times with the Navy, Army, Air Force and ending my carrier as a civilian dod empl...Expand for more
oyee in transportation as well as a 29 year military career. Currently retired "Air Force" working part time in an assisted living community for the good of "seniors" and the added financial needs of this economy and myself. My travels have been mostly military inspired, France, Italy, Greece, Egypt (very briefly never got off of the aircraft in Egypt), Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Goose Bay Labrador, Nova Scotia (ancestrial Home) Germany, Cuba (gitmo), Mexico (walked across the border to get a peek in 1983.( Wasn't good then and the knews these days it is not good now at Juarez.) Roamed these United States as a contract trucker. Barbara and I are Proud to boast to be Grandparents to three boys and one Girl . We have built a house and home together where we intend to enjoy development of grandchildren and each other to our final reward. We managed another trip to Germany to attend the wedding of our exchange student last October just before hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey with a wild ride up the coast to home in our truck and highway bridges closing to traffic minutes after we crossed over them, according to radio reports. Currently working a Van for Northeast Tool Supply on a daily basis making tool deliveries on Cape Cod to construction sites.
