Wayne's Story
LIFE:
Widower with 2 grown daughters, Kelly and Kim. In July 2008, lost my wife, Lou, to breast cancer, which stalked her for 22 years.
2 granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily, whose mother is Kelly. Entire family is nearby here in Silicon Valley.
My big Bouvier, Woofie, loves to ride with me in my hot rod Corvette and Cadillac.
I've been incredibly lucky, and I'm still figuring out the rest of my life.
SCHOOL:
Miss McGranahan taught me to write, and Mr. Garrett taught me to think.
My HHS crushes were many, and boy, was I clueless. Probably still am. I won't name names for the sake of propriety.
COLLEGE:
Began in mechanical engineering at Cornell, then transferred to Purdue for more of same. But, found that sal...Expand for more
es was my calling, so switched to Management. Learned how much fun sales could be by being rush chairman for my fraternity, SAE, for 4 semesters.
WORK:
4 years marketing at GM Chevrolet in Chicago.
8 years sales/marketing at IBM in Chicago.
23 years sales/marketing at Amdahl (IBM compatible mainframes) in Chicago and Sunnyvale, CA.
Time at Amdahl interrupted by 1/2-year fling with another startup. Yucky but made money.
9 years in sales back at IBM in San Francisco area.
Now retired.
Earned my Private Pilot license at age 73 and now own a 1929, open-cockpit biplane with the goal of flying cross-country back to Indiana. Back to playing at golf. On a local county board and active with SAE fraternity back at Purdue.
