Wendy's Story
Hi ya'll. Here is my life since I graduated: I had a few miscellaneous jobs in retail till I was 21 at which point I married and moved to Ft. Meade, Maryland; had a daughter, Jenni Senger. After 2 years in MD I moved back to MN. Eventually got a divorce (after an abusive marriage) and went to a Secretarial Program through Crown College. I had an internship with the City of St. Paul Parks and Forestry (which I enjoyed very much), and they offered me a temp position after graduating with a Secretarial Certificate so I worked with them for about 2 years. I tried to get in permanant but was unable at the time, so finally I searched for a permanant job. Enter working for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for 10 years! The first 6 I worked in Administrative Services entering donation info and sending out letters and receipts. I had MANY good experiences that I would love to tell anyone about if asked. The last 4 years there I worked in the Food Service dept. (I got tired of being stuck behind a computer screen for 8 hours!). gust 2000 I remarried. In early 2003 (which was going to turn out not my most favorite year) We were informed the BGEA was going to be moving the headquarters to Charlotte, NC. I did not want to make the move so I took the severance package. My job ended in May, followed very shortly by my marriage, and then my dad passing away in November! I had a temp job for a bit from May to September when I started working for Caribou Coffee. I decided I wanted a job I was gonna really have fun at, and since I love coffee and love chatting with people that job was PERFECT! I was with Caribou Coffee until the end of Sept. 2008 when I thought with the economy I was not sure how solid specialty coffee would stay so I got a job with First Transit, which is where I am at now. I drive a Metro Mobility bus bringing mentally and physically challenged people to their everyday coming and goings. I feel good I can help disadvantaged people in this way. I am still searching for my next "project" in life to work with...God willing. By the way, my daughter is now 22 and I have 3 grandchildren: J.T. is 4, Deric is 3 and Sarah is 9 months. I LOVE being a G'ma!
