Wendy's Story
After high school, I worked at Ivy Tech doing maintenance work, where I started helping work on a race car during my breaks. The next summer, I rebuilt an engine in an automotive class on top of working full time. I attended Hanover College for two years, and began working with people who had developmental disabilities during the summer and winter breaks.
I lived in NJ for part of the next summer doing an educational enrichment program in an inner city environment, and transferred to IU to begin a pre-med load of coursework.

I ended up dropping out of college to pursue a career in writing, but started my family and got married. We lived in Kokomo, IN for several years and have three children. We lived in the Caribbean for a year, then back to Kokomo, then on to Saudi Arabia for five years.
The kids and I moved back to the states to a farm here in Vermont, and Jamal joined us after a year and a half apart. He started a consulting business, and I am teaching horseback riding, and working with people with in a facilitated equestrian environment.
