Wendy's Story
Life
Married my high school sweetheart, Jim Baker, on 8/4/90 in Rhinelander. We moved to Marshfield, WI in 1992 and then moved out to the small town of Pittsville in 1994. We have 2 beautiful girls who are now 15 and 16. Jim was involved in a serious car accident which left him paralyzed in 1996. A woman with 3 small children crossed the center line causing Jim to barrel roll into a field with his septic truck. He broke his neck and is considered an incomplete quadruplegic. I am so proud of him as he is challenged everyday with living life in a wheelchair but remains the same guy you all once knew. We can testify on how fast life can change for someone so live your life to the fullest each and every day as you never know when something tragic can happen. We have a very strong family and a wonderful group of friends that has helped us through everything. Jim and I have overcome so much in our 19 years together.
About 3 years ago we started building a handicap cabin between Rhinelander and Tomahawk so that we had a nice place to go on weekends. Home away from Home. With a lot of help from family and friends it is almost complete. We have started renting it out when we are not there therefore if you know anyone interested in coming to the Rhinelander Area and needs a reasonable place to stay.
I have to say I have totally enjoyed reading everyones Bios and seeing family pictures. It is neat to see where everyone is now and how they are doing these days. If ...Expand for more
you have not posted a bio or pictures, please do. Everyone has such interesting lives.
If you are ever in the Marshfield/Pittsville/Wisconsin Rapids area, look us up.

Happy Birthday Andy Burns on June 1! What a nice day we both share!
Workplace
I worked as a dispatcher for Rhinelander Police Dept for a year until we moved to Marshfield in 1992. After we had our 2 girls I then decided to open a licensed daycare in our home as we didn't know anyone in our area. Jim and I also owned and operated a Septic Cleaning Business. We lost both of our businesses due to Jim being in his accident in 1996 when he was paralyzed. After a year of rehab and therapy we both decided to go to college. Yes, we had classes together. We both graduated with an Associate Degree in Computer Programming. I then decided that wasn't enough and continued on with Lakeland College for my Bachelors Degree in Computer Programming and I also minored in Business Administration.
While in college finishing up my Bachelors degree I started employment with Wood County Social Services. I have been at the Marshfield office the last 6 years. I am an Economic Support Specialist working with about 500 families in the Marshfield Area doing eligibility for Food Stamps, Badger Care, Childcare and many other government programs. Even though my job does not consist of what I went to college for, it is a very fullfilling job for the most part. Helping people in the community is what I really enjoy!
