Wendy's Story

2009 Hi everyone, thanks for sending me notes, I really do suck at keeping up with stuff. Procrastenator. Well it is back to the good old USA. We will move back to Mi in April. We are not happy about the move, I could never explain what a wonderful life we have here. We live in a village 1 family resturant and no stores, not even a backerei, bakery. Ansley will be 5 in May and Austin 9 in June. In summer Kindergarten only closes 2 weeks and school closes 6 weeks. Four of those weeks Austin goes to Wald Acadamie. The go nuts running thru the forest, building huts and bridges over small raveens. We could never get away with that in America, too much insurance liability. Here you kid falls they get hurt and you just get them fixed up and off they go again. We have indoor play houses. Its giant old indoor tennis facilities that now are full of swings, trampolines, giant blow up things to jump on, and these things that look like giant hamster tubes for kids, Histarical. Of course not in America, too much Suing!!!!!!. Let kids be kids. I am very happy my children got to experience so many different things, kids actually make bows and arrows and act like kids. We still have no Nintendo, WI, playstations or any of that. I am sure that will change quickly. They do play computer games but are limited, you put them in rubber rain suits and gummi boots and throw them out in the yard. They have also experienced Ramadon in Eygpt and seen things some will never see. I wish we could stay longer. Scott says if I am in Germany I want to be in USA, if I am in USA I want to be in Germany. I think never being satisfied can have its benefits. I really wish to move back to SC sometime, you can take the girl out of the south but cant take the south out of the girl, my heart will always be in SC. Yes I am rambling, I cant wait to get my Annual out of storage, I need to look everone up and see how we have grown. I will add my old photo when I get it. I will really miss my many friends here. I wish Ansley could start 1st grade here like her brother. But they are both fluent in German and I hope they keep it up. We will try to speak Deutsche in the home. Well I will probably be in Charleston over the summer, my Mom is still in Summerville and if anyone wants to catch up she will know how to contact me. She is Judy West at the Taylor insurance agency, I am sure she would appreciate having me post that, HA HA. Well I will post a few new photos and start packing, Take care all, and I wish everyone happiness!! Life HELLO! I AM NOW LIVING IN GERMANY WITH MY HUSBAND (SCOTT) AND MY SON (AUSTIN). I AM A CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT, BUT I NOW STAY HOME WITH MY SON. WE HAVE A HOME IN MICHIGAN WHICH WE WILL RETURN TO IN MAY. I GET HOME (SC) 2 TO 3 TIMES A YEAR TO VISIT OUR FAMILIES, I WISH WE COULD MOVE BACK. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARE ANY OF YOU OVER HERE IN MY CORNER OF THE WORLD. Wow that was in 2002, We went back to Mi for 3 years, May 21 2004 we had a daughter Ansley May, what a pistol. She really keeps me on my toes. We have once again moved back to Germany, only since March 2005, and will stay 2-5 years. Austin is now 5 and goes to German Kindergarten, and corrects...Expand for more
my pronunciations in Deutsch regularly. They say children learn languages very fast so he should be fluent by the end of the year. If anyone comes over please feel free to get in touch. Wendy Now Ansley is 2 1/2 and in Kindergarten, I am in real trouble. I am looking to start German lessons myself, or who knows what they will be saying about me in front of me! My German is just enough to get by. I tell Germans I speak Kindergarten Deutsch. Now it is 2008 and I cant believe it. Ansley is in Kindergarten all day and Austin is in 1st class in Grundschule. My Deutsch is still pretty pitiful, and now I have trouble remembering some words in English. I especially cant spell! I have to help Austin with his Hausaufgabe (homework) so I am atleast learning new words everyday. Next week carneval gets into full swing. We have Fasching, which is the night all the ladies go out and do whatever they want!!!!! REALLY. Plus 95% are in costume. We had a blast last year, so I am really looking forward to this one. I have an international group of friens, American, Australian, Scottish, Lithuanian, Polish, and of course many German. Still not sure how long we will still be here in Germany, but I do get to come for a visit this March, into Detroit on the 8th and out of Detroit on the 29th. Of course I will drive to Charleston only a few days after getting in MI to be with my family and friends. My Mom, Judy West, is actually still living in Ladson and working in Summerville at Taylor Insurance on Main St. Some things never change and some change alot. . We have been so many places it is a dream to live over here. I do miss grocery stores, the malls and American TV shows. Well if anyone comes in this direction let me know and I might be able to make some suggestions for your journey. You can also try scottfloyd35 at goooglemail dot com. Please have nice weather in March when I come to visit. All take care and have a great year, Wendy Well summer is over for our children. Austin is in 2nd klasse and Ansley is still in Kindergarten. They have both started Fussball (yes Soccer) what better place to learn than the world cup host. It is very big here. Now that American football is starting we will have many late nights watching Clemson on the computer. The kids German is so amazing, seems we will be here 2 more years but I only agree to 1 year at a time. Its easier. I hope to come home for Christmas, my children havent had an American Christmas in 3 years. They will be thrilled, not to mention our family. I also hope to eventually make it to a reunion. Okay all take care, Always, Wendy 2009 Well, hope everyone had a great 2008. Looks like this year we will move back to the States. We will return to Brownstown MI just south of the Detroit airport. We should be back in April and will go to S.C. to visit while we wait for our stuff to reach our house in MI. So things will be kinda crazy, especially with the children, the only thing they can think of is missing the friends here in Germany. I am sure they will fit right in, I dont have intraverted children. They have traveled the world and enjoy new experiences. So hope to hear from old friends when we get back. Take care all, Wendy
