Wes's Story
Life
Wes Hawkins is freelance Percussionist and Educator in the Phoenix area. He received Bachelor's Degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the University of Arizona. Since 1992, he has instructed drumlines and taught privately both in Tucson and Phoenix. Wes was Band Director at Carl Hayden High School from 1997-2000. . He completed a Master's Degree in Music Education (Jazz Studies emphasis) at Arizona State University in December 2003. He holds the office of Secretary/Treasurer in the Arizona Chapter of PAS (Percussive Arts Society) and is active as leader in WGAZ (Winter Guard Arizona) Percussion Circuit.
Currently, Wes is a stay-at-home dad for Anthony (born January 2001) and Theresa (born February 2003). His wife, Denise, is the Drama teacher at Camelback HS.
